GIS at the Alamo Area MPO
The GIS section supports our short and long-range transportation plans by providing innovative ways to visualize and compare several different transportation scenarios that help policymakers and the public understand transportation issues. The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is part of a regional consortium, the Alamo Area Geospatial Committee (AAGC), that provides strategic direction in facilitating or addressing geospatial services and projects, coordinating technical standards, and administering fiscal resources. In addition, the Alamo Area MPO is part of the South Central Arc Users Group, a professional forum that shares problems and solutions about GIS software and databases.

iMap Interactive Mapping Application
The GIS Staff at the Alamo Area MPO developed "iMap," an interactive mapping application to serve as an all-inclusive hub for transportation geographic data. The application was designed with both CITIZENS and PARTNER AGENCY STAFF in mind, providing functionality as simple as searching, creating and printing custom maps, identifying information on projects in the TIP (short-range plan) and MTP (long-range plan), and identifying crash hot spots; or as advanced as importing external GIS datasets, GIS data download, and much more.
If you have any questions regarding iMap, e-mail Cecilio Martinez, Senior GIS & Web Analyst at firstname.lastname@example.org or call him at 210-230-6905.
AAGC Open Data Site
Browse through a library of the MPO's popular GIS layers. You can add layers to your interactive mapping applications as REST points or download the data in spreadsheet, KML, Shapefile, or even API format.
